As I mentioned before, it is impossible to bake cakes without sugar. Well it is possible but if we want the other to eat them too, we have to add some sugar. Though I have this 100 years old christmas cookies recipe amended to a healthier version. Try it, they really are awesome!

Ingredients:

  • 500g wholegrain spelt flour
  • 500g spelt flour
  • 400g butter
  • 20 tbsp honey
  • 200g icing sugar
  • 4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 10pcs of ground cloves
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 yolk

Method:

  • Melt the butter and add cinnamon, cloves, honey and sugar. Mix everything together in a blender.
  • Add eggs into the mix, mix well. Then add sieve flour and make a dough. Then roll the dough until its about 5mm thick, then use cookie cutter to cut cookies and put on the baking dish.
  • Put into the preheated oven to 175'C and bake for about 7 minutes. Don't bake them for too long, otherwise they will be too dry.
  • After taking them out of the oven spread yolk mixed with water (1:1) on top of cookies.
  • Let it cool down.
