We have lots of walnuts at the moment, so I am using them in lots of recipes. This is good because of all the nuts, walnuts are one of the healthiest. This is because they have loads of benefits that you can get from just eating 6-7 a day!

Reduces Heart Disease

Walnuts are a great source of antioxidants and healthy fats. Studies have shown that these can help reduce cholesterol, reduce inflammation and improve the health of your arteries. All of these things will reduce the chances of you getting heart disease

Improve Brain Function

Walnuts could make you smarter! Ok it isnt that simple. However there are studies that show walnuts can help improve memory and brain function and also reduce the chances of Alzheimer's Disease. There is also evidence that eating walnuts can help reduce your chance of developing depression

Prevent Cancer

There is evidence that eating walnuts can help decrease the chance of developing prostate and colon cancer. This is because walnuts are full of lots of anti cancer compounds like antioxidants (Ellagic acid) and healthy fats

Source of Vitamins and Minerals

Walnuts are full of nutrients that you body needs like Vitamin B6 and B9 (these are important for your immune system and pregnant women). There are also a good source of Vitamin E, copper, phosphorus and manganese (important for a healthy heart and bones)

They can help you sleep

Good quality sleep is something that a lot of people are missing these days. However walnuts are a natural source of melatonin which is the hormone that helps your body to sleep. That is why including walnuts in your diet could help improve your sleep.
